Roundup: Little League action, scores from the week

Here’s a recap of scores and action from area Little League play the past week.

Keweenaw Little League semifinals are Thursday, June 30. No. 3-seed Mohawk Technology plays No. 2-seed Calumet Machine. No. 4 Copper Range Roofing and Contracting plays No. 1 KBear 102. The championship game is Saturday, July 2 at Gipp Fields in Laurium.

June 23

KBear edged Mohawk Technology 11-8. Ethan Halonen pitched three innings for KBear, striking out three and allowing a run. John Kero scored Rider Hyrkas. Niiko Johnson and Liam Debeaubien pitched the last three innings. David Eskola and Weston Marley pitched for Mohawk Technology. Halonen hit a double that scored two runs. Debeaubien had an RBI and scored twice. Cullen Berg hit two doubles, scored a run and had an RBI. Ryder Harju was 2 for 3 with three RBI. Wyndham David was 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk. Clara Isaacson scored twice for Mohawk Technology and had an RBI triple. Eskola scored a run and had an RBI.

June 22

KBear defeated Calumet Machine 2-1. KBear’s Joe Halonen and Calumet’s Oscar Loukus battled in a pitcher’s duel. Halonen pitched five innings, allowing one run with 14 strikeouts. Loukus pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing one run with 13 strikeouts. Aron Londo drew a walk in the bottom of the first for Calumet Machine, and scored on a hit by Loukus. Toby Johnson scored KBear’s first run in the third inning, scoring on a triple by Liam Debeaubien. Halonen scored the winning run in the sixth on a wild pitch. Debeaubien struck out two and stranded the tying run at third base.

June 21

J. Peltier Construction beat Copper Country Chiropractic 17-4. Isaac Wanhala and Terrence Nolan combined on the mound for the win. They struck out a combined eight batters and allowed four hits. Emre Durocher, Tyler Isaacson, Chase Keranen led with three hits each. Two of Keranen’s hits were for extra bases. All of Isaacson’s hits were for extra bases. Max Bier led CCC with two hits.

KBear beat Copper Range Roofing and Contracting 31-13. KBear’s bats got hot early and stayed hot. Carson Stevens scored three times for Copper Range. Blake Lebo, Jordy Dufrane, Ashton Sullivan and Bodie Fortin all scored twice each. Ethan Halonen scored five times for KBear with two triples and three RBI. Joe Halonen scored four times with an RBI. Toby Johnson hit two grand slams and scored four times. Wyndham David scored four times. Trevor Berg scored three times. Cannon Wilks and John Goodman scored twice each.

June 17

J. Peltier Construction walloped M&M Powersports 25-2. Tyler Isaacson and Terrence Nolan pitched four inings and allowed a combined five baserunners. They also combined for 11 strikeouts. Nolan and Kyler Puuri batted 4 for 4. Colin Spencer, Tyler Isaacson and Chase Keranen reached base four times. Ryan Lorenz and Camden Seppanen singled for M&M.

KBear beat Calumet Machine 12-2. Liam Debeaubien pitched four innings for KBear. He struck out seven and allowed two runs. Calumet Machine’s Oscar Loukus scored following a leadoff triple. Niiko Johnson scored the other Calumet run. Ethan Halonen homered to lead off the game and was a double short of hitting for the cycle. Debeaubien scored twice and had two RBI. Toby Johnson and Cullen Berg scored three times each. Johnson was 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBI. Berg had two RBI with a home run, triple and a walk. Trevor Berg was 2 for 3 with two RBI.
