Shottle Bop runners up in USGO

LANSING — The Copper Country-based Shottle Bop finished second at the United States Guts Open this past weekend, losing in the finals to the Appleton Assassins, 2-1.

Shottle Bop got to finals via an epic 28-26 losers bracket final win over the Worms, who were mostly made up of ex-members of Boomtown Saints.

Seventeen teams competed in the two-day tournament that ended under hot and windy conditions in Lansing’s Grand Woods Park. The Assassins won the right to represent the USA at the World Ultimate and Guts Championships in Australia next year.

Alex Tews of the Assassins was named MVP.

Shottle Bop came up just short in sweeping the big four tournaments, having won the Wisconsin Championships, the Coca-Cola International Frisbee Tournament, and the U.S. Nationals.
