Lakes fall to Marion in state semifinal

MARION — Despite scoring 36 points and seeing the lead change multiple times, the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes football team lost Saturday to the Marion Eagles, 42-36.

The Eagles scored their final touchdown with 1:30 left in the contest, but the Lakes could not convert on their next drive, which ended the game.

Danny Marcotte drove the offense by throwing 10-of-14 for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Marcotte tucked the ball 13 times for 49 yards and one two-point conversion.

Matthew Jokela emerged as his favorite target with four catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

Gabe Popko had five receptions in the game for 54 yards. He also ran the ball five times for 16 yards and a touchdown.

Sam Roberts led the ground attack with 15 rushes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one catch for nine yards.
