Why follow medical advice?

To the editor: Ever since we signed the Baraga County Manifesto, we have seen a massive tidal wave of support and encouragement. This feedback comes from people and places I never heard of before, all wishing to give us a pat on the back or to inquire how their community can follow our lead. Clearly we struck a note that is resounding throughout the nation. The few unfriendly contacts have been uniformly mean-spirited, threatening and/or idiotic (my “favorite” is having an ancient Sami curse put upon my head). Cults

To the editor: Historically, there have been thousands of cults. Three prominent types are Political, Religious and New Age. Political, racist, or terrorist cults are fueled by belief in changing society by overthrowing the perceived enemy or getting rid of evil forces. The leader professes to be all knowing and all powerful. Groups tend to operate as secret cells. Often members of the group are armed and ready to engage in violent activities. Sometimes these groups meet in secret with coded language and handshakes. Members consider themselves an elite cadre ready to go to battle. ...

To the editor: I write today with disappointment in Rep. Bergman’s support of the “big lie” that the election of President Biden and Vice President Harris was rigged. I also write to call into account those financially backing his unpatriotic, undemocratic, abdication of honorable service to his constituents. Rep. To the editor: Have faith and God will help protect you. God will provide. God provided a mask: wear it. God provided soap: wash your hands. God provided a vaccine: take it. A presidential farce

To the editor: The last farcical act of the former President Donald Trump is when he played the role of Inciter in Chief on Jan. 6 at Capitol Hill. Even in this hideous drama, he failed to fulfill his objective of remaining in power. He lacked the knowledge, planning, and drive of what it takes to mount a successful insurrection. Thank God for this fact. As I watched the mob take over the Capitol on that infamous day, I could sense the mixed emotions of good versus evil.
