Sowell was right about liberals

To the editor: To reasonable people, an “armed insurrection” involves the use of firearms, not the possession of non-lethal things like pepper spray for defensive purposes. I am referring to the mislabeled events in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6. The American Revolution against the British tyranny was a real, armed insurrection that we honor and celebrate. Emerson’s poem, “Concord Hymn” defined it this way: “It was here the embattled farmers stood and fired the shot heard round the world.” Liberal/progressive and radical leftists who dominate the news media, academia and ...

An honest report fells a Goliath lie

To the editor: Michigan’s Senate Oversight Committee penned a mighty report titled “The November 2020 Election in Michigan.” Three Republicans (Chairman Ed McBroom) and one Democrat demonstrated integrity and due diligence in their investigations and reporting. Their report received national acclaim as a strong repudiation of claims that the election ”was stolen.” Here the voices of small people (clerks, canvassers, representatives, senators, secretaries of states, and justices) were slung together with the rock of truth and zipped into the forehead of a Goliath ...

The true story

To the editor: It’s time for the truth of Jan. 6 to be known. Yes, it looked like Trump supporters, in their fight to stop the steal and stop the Democrat child-cannibals, stormed and vandalized the capital. But then, we found out that the violent Trumpists were Antifa terrorist infiltrators, there to support make the Trumpists look bad (and so support the democrats, who fund Antifa by buying children from them).  But now, we are told the whole thing is really a plot instigated by the FBI! None of these stories are true. It was not Trumpists, Antifa, or the FBI. This ...

Don’t pick on Phil

To the editor: On Wednesday and Thursday of last week, The Daily Mining Gazette published stories about a “group of professors” at Finlandia University who anonymously expressed no confidence in the University President, Phillip Johnson. I was appalled. I have only met Phillip Johnson on a few occasions; they were always church related, not Finlandia related in the least. I have no idea whether Finlandia is having unidentified internal problems or not. My concern is that neither does Gazette yet you published these unidentified pronouncements on the front page above the ...
